Join the outgoing equipment plan to the incoming device deployment.
Define the user requirement
Begin with roles, applications, mobility, display needs and expected device life. This produces a useful specification instead of an expensive wish list.
Inventory the outgoing technology
Record devices, condition, ownership, data sensitivity and accessories. Identify equipment that must remain until the new setup is proven.
Plan deployment and removal together
Sequence the work so users receive configured equipment before old devices are disconnected. Agree how data migration, packaging and handover will be controlled.
Confirm the evidence
If the business needs asset records, data-handling evidence or service completion information, write that requirement into the project scope before movement begins.
Pilot before the full roll-out
Prepare a small representative group first. Check applications, printers, docks, displays, security controls and user access. Lessons from the pilot can prevent the same fault being repeated across every workstation.
Keep a short exception list
Not every device will follow the standard route. Record missing equipment, damaged assets, users needing more time and devices held for investigation so the project can close without losing accountability.
